Innovations in Training Austin: Kickoff

  • Huston-Tillotson University: West Parking Lot (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Steven Dahlberg, Conference Director, Training Magazine; Dawn Mahoney, Program Manager, Training Magazine; Amanda Masino, Co-Director, The Dumpster Project

The kickoff includes an introduction to Innovations in Training Austin, a visit to an arts-based sustainability project, dinner, and more.

The Dumpster Project at Huston-Tillotson University
How do you inspire learners? Can one learning program have many layers of engagement? Where do design and innovation intersect learning? What role do the arts (does an artist) play in creating/designing more-engaging learning experiences? How do we leverage learning to help our organizations accomplish their sustainability goals? What happens when the public interacts with your learning programs?

Experience the answer to these questions and discover a lot more connections when we visit The Dumpster Project at Huston-Tillotson University, a historically black institution located in the heart of East Austin, to kick off Innovations in Training Austin!

The Dumpster Project is a grand design experiment that not only uses the real-world challenge of transforming a trash dumpster into a tiny sustainable home to inspire learners of all ages — it simultaneously serves as a re-imagining of home, a portable learning initiative, a sustainability conversation, a creative branch of wider green campus initiatives, and an innovative STEM education platform.

LOCATION:

The Innovations in Training kickoff takes place at The Dumpster Project at Huston-Tillotson University, followed by dinner.

  • The IIT shuttle will load at 4:15 pm at the Whitis Avenue entrance of the AT&T Hotel, and depart at 4:30 pm.

  • If you are making your own way to IIT, find details in the agenda on the conference website and app, or in the email sent to IIT participants.

NOTE: All Innovations in Training Austin sessions are open only to those who are registered for the full IIT Austin event (registration fee required).
